Sustainable Development
Charter
Al-Fehaid International Group (“AFiG”), and its Subsidiary (WP Hungary), wishes to share its values with its business partners, suppliers, sub-contractors and licensees (together, the “Partner” or “Partners”) and to associate them with this Sustainable Development Charter, which forms part of AFiG’s Sustainable Development approach. The Partner is expected to uphold the following principles across all of its activities and in each country in which it operates.
a) Human rights
The Partner shall promote and respect international laws relating to the protection of human rights and shall not be complicit in any violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations, 1948) or of applicable national legislation.
b) Labour law
Forced labour
The Partner shall contribute to the eradication of all forms of forced or compulsory labour. Work must be freely given, and employees must be free to leave their employment in accordance with established rules. The use of forced labour, servitude or slavery, and/or the retention of identity papers, work permits or any other documents, is strictly prohibited.
Child labour
The Partner shall contribute to the effective abolition of child labour. The minimum working age must comply with the legislation in force in each country of operation and may in no case be less than the legal requirements of the country for any type of activity. In no circumstances may employment compromise the health, safety, education or dignity of children.
Non-discrimination
The Partner shall contribute to the elimination of discrimination in employment, treating all persons equally irrespective of any personal characteristic unrelated to merit or to the skills inherent in the role.
Freedom of association and collective bargaining
The Partner shall ensure that workers are able to exercise these rights freely, in a climate free of violence, pressure, fear or threats.
c) Environment
The Partner demonstrates social, societal and environmental responsibility. The Partner seeks to reduce, reuse and recycle waste, and to lower its water and energy consumption. The Partner also seeks to reduce the environmental impact of its product supply and shipping, by optimising means of transport and the selection of suppliers. The Partner is mindful of improving its environmental performance and seeks out the most appropriate products and services.
d) Anti-corruption
The Partner shall work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. The Partner, together with its own suppliers and partners, shall not offer money, gifts, loans or valuables to customers, nor grant them privileges, in order to win contracts.
e) Anti-money-laundering
The Partner shall prevent and combat illicit trafficking and money laundering. The Partner shall not engage in any illegal activity, or in any activity involving — even indirectly — funds of criminal origin, and shall take part only in lawful activities.
f) Ethics & transparency
Subcontractors
The Partner undertakes to ensure that its suppliers and sub-contractors comply with the principles set out in this Charter.
